Protect jobs by buying made in America
In the business section of the Tuesday, March 31 Daily Herald there was an Associated Press story titled "What the warranty guarantee means." There's a picture of three gentlemen pushing a car with the caption that the new government program is designed to make people feel comfortable purchasing U.S.-made autos as their warrantee will be guaranteed by the United states government. The car the gentlemen are pushing is a Pontiac G3. This particular car is made in South Korea.
Perhaps it's time that we began to protect American workers. Perhaps The Associated Press could've found a picture of three American workers pushing a car manufactured in the united States. There are still many of them left. Perhaps just a little bit of protectionism might be in order in these difficult times. Our country is the victim of protectionism all over the world.
Perhaps these desperate times might allow us to protect a few jobs. This way we can avoid some many of our good American workers having to push foreign cars for a living.
