Honest government wants to raise taxes?
Gee, the feds want to stimulate the economy, so they turn around and try to give us a little extra money to spend each week. But who should appear at our front door: the state of Illinois. Now we find that the state is in trouble and needs to raise more cash to balance its budget. Their plan: To take more money from our checks so they can pay their bills. So much for stimulating the economy. For years, the state has been taking money from our checks and spending it unwisely until we end up in a financial mess. But wait, this was done under a dishonest government. Hark, we now have an honest government (or so they say). Most taxpayers that I know of have always felt that our tax bite is out of control and it's getting too expensive to live in Illinois. Now that we have an honest government, the first thing that happens is that our taxes go up 50 per cent. I didn't realize it cost so much money to have an honest government; maybe we should go back to the dishonest government, at least it didn't cost us as much and then we might have some money to help stimulate the economy. Talk about borrowing fro Peter to pay Paul.
