Van Grondelles win title at Prospect
Palatine's Katie and Maggie Van Grondelle didn't lose a game as they won all 7 of their matches en route to the first doubles title at the Prospect badminton invitational Saturday.
Wheeling got a pair of second-place finishes as Karolina Sabaliauskaite went 5-2 at No. 1 singles and Shannen Chechang went 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Schaumburg's Adriana Duron went 6-1 to finish second at No. 4 singles.
Hersey had two runner-up finishes at doubles from Sonal Patel and Rossy Iovtcheva at No. 2 and Marilyn Gaske and Catherine Park at No. 3.
New Trier won with 43 points, Downers Grove South was second (27) and Hersey and Wheeling tied for third (25).
