Country needs strong leadership

Cal Thomas' article "Put Anger Where it Belongs: Congress" expresses the feelings of many of us outraged ordinary citizens.

Here are some additional thoughts/comments.

Although there may be some well intentioned members of Congress, I'd like to know who they are? It's hard to tell given the actors and actresses who represent us. Most all are worthy of Oscar nominations and perhaps belong in Hollywood rather than Washington, D.C. or our state capitols.

The acting is superb, the comedy of errors whimsical and the unknown conclusions always left to the people. Who's responsible, not me. It's always the other guy or the people, since they elected me. Do they not all stink of the same manure?

How can we the people claim any legitimacy in our government any longer, when our supposed representation pass lengthy bills involving hundreds of billions and now trillions of dollars without even having read the documents. How unconscionable have these people become? Has our country been hijacked by the career politicians? Are we angry, you bet. Cal Thomas' conclusion "That should make us all angry and we should channel that anger right back at the politicians most responsible and clean house and senate in November 2010."

I think this is a valiant suggestion but an unlikely solution. Unlikely, since most intelligent humans know our politicians are not subservient to we the ordinary people, plus the fact that once the damage is done it takes more than changes in Congress to undo, if ever. What this country needs in government is real reform and strong, honest leadership both in the House and Senate. The White House leadership could lead the way but is something that has yet to be demonstrated.
