Ed Bender, Fox Lake
So what's your new mayor like? The Daily Herald asked our new mayors and village presidents a few 'get to know you' questions Wednesday, the day after voters chose them to lead their communities.
Q. Who is your political role model?
A. Seeing as I'm not a politician as I am more of a business man, it would be Jack Welsh, the chairman of General Electric, or David Grainger, chairman of WW Grainger, who has been my mentor for all my adult life.
Q. What is the first thing you want to change?
A. I want to develop and adopt an economic development plan to draw business into Fox Lake and address the budget deficit created over the last four years.
Q. What is your favorite movie?
A. I don't watch movies a lot. I don't have the time for them.
Q. How did you celebrate Tuesday?
A. With my family, grandchildren, sons and friends at a restaurant in Fox Lake.
Q. What's the last good book you read?
A. "The Book of Business Wisdom. Classic Writings by the Legends of Commerce and Industry."
Q. Cubs or Sox?
A. Blackhawks. I don't watch baseball, but I love hockey.
