Dave Anderson, Elburn village president elect
So what's your new mayor like? The Daily Herald asked our new mayors and village presidents a few 'get to know you' questions Wednesday, the day after voters chose them to lead their communities.
Dave Anderson, Elburn village president elect
Q. Who is your political role model?
A. "My father." Leonard Anderson was a village trustee, a Kane County Board member, a school trustee and president of the parish council of St. Gall Catholic Church.
Q. What is the first thing you want to change?
A. "Attitude." Whose? "Everyone's." How?: "More positive." He believes that if the village president has a positive attitude and tries to see the good in situations, that tends to filter down.
Q. What is your favorite movie?
A. "Blazing Saddles."
Q. How did you celebrate?
A. "I had family and close friends and contributors and supporters over to the house for dessert." What was on the table? Cherry and blueberry pies, something called a "heavenly chocolate" thing, date-nut brownies and lemon squares.
Q. What's the last good book you read?
A. "You May Not Like It, But You're a Lot Like Me: The Journey of a Common Man," an autobiography by Chuck Sauber of Virgil. Sauber, 84, founder and "chief philosopher" of Sauber Manufacturing, holds more than 50 patents, is the father of 16 children and grandfather of 46. "Very short, but an excellent book to read," Anderson said.
Q. Cubs or Sox?
A. "The best team in Chicago: the Sox."
