Vacancies on boards:
With Des Plaines 2nd Ward Alderman Martin Moylan elected the city's next mayor, and Wheeling village board trustee Judy Abruscato taking the village presidency, their remaining 2-year terms must be filled by appointment. Moylan and Abruscato said they would appoint their own replacements after being sworn into office, subject to approval by the Des Plaines City Council and Wheeling Village Board. Meanwhile, James Brookman, Des Plaines' newly elected 5th Ward alderman, will resign the Des Plaines Park District commissioner post to which he was elected four years ago. His park board term ends in 2011 and a replacement will be appointed, he said.
