Head injuries can't be taken lightly

The death of Natasha Richardson certainly should make us much more aware of the seriousness of head injuries. They are not to be taken lightly. Number one, yes, she should have been wearing a helmet at the time of training or otherwise. In the previous six months before Richardson's accident, doctors had been insisting on the wearing of helmets for all skiers. Now they again are repeating their pleas. When an individual loses balance or falls and hits their head, they should have it checked out in an emergency room, clinic or doctor's office. Hitting your head is not the same as hitting your arm or leg. This was a needless death that could have been avoided if Richardson had been examined immediately and not thought that she was all right. She now leaves two young boys and a husband and the rest of her family. My prayers are with them all.
