Inland Press Association chooses new director

The Inland Press Association has announced its new executive director, effective later this year.

An executive committee announced Monday that Catherine L. Scott will become the Des Plaines-based press association's interim executive director starting July 1.

She'll replace Executive Director Ray Carlsen, who is retiring.

The Mount Prospect resident has been at Inland for eight years. She was director of operations for half that time.

Carlsen has been executive director since 1986. He announced his retirement in late January and says he hopes to spend more time with family.

Inland is a nonprofit newspaper association and foundation. It has nearly 1,200 newspaper members nationwide.
