Due diligence means voting for CARE

Lake Zurich Village President Tolomei, along with Trustee Callahan, McAvoy and Taylor on Feb. 18 voted down a motion by Trustee Branding to conduct due diligence regarding the recently-passed development contract with David Smith and his Equity Services Group (ESG) that hands over the keys to the village's downtown.

Now I guess we'll just have to take it on faith that ESG has amassed the "Weapons of Mass Construction" necessary to resurrect the village from the morass these same four guys and their pals got us into.

What next? Maybe they'll put up a big "Mission Accomplished" banner across the 50 percent completed, 25 percent sold and 10 percent occupied Sommerset townhouses project (in the downtown area) just in time for the April election.

Hey, Lake Zurich, if you want due diligence from your elected officials vote for CARE - Suzanne Branding for village president, Jeff Halen, Jonathan Sprawka and Rich Sustich for trustees and Wende Dau for village clerk.

For all those who asked why Trustee Branding sometimes abstains, it is the law that if you live in the TIF and the vote pertains to matters in the TIF you must abstain. > >
