Do you want to risk HB 2354's impact?
Springfield lawmakers are now considering HB 2354, radical pro-abortion legislation known as the "Reproductive Health and Access Act" The enactment of HB 2354, would: 1) invalidate the Illinois Health Care Right of Conscience Act protecting health care professionals and employers; and, 2) force Catholic hospitals to assist patients in obtaining abortions in a timely manner.
I have a few questions for everyone to ponder if this legislation is passed. Will many pro-life men and women who are contemplating entering or presently studying to become a medical professional change their minds and enter another profession? We are already suffering from a lack of good doctors. Will pro-life doctors who are told that they must perform abortions leave the medical profession? What will happen to doctors who refuse to perform abortions but wish to stay in the medical profession? Will they be arrested and be put in prison? Will hospitals that refuse to have abortions performed be shut down?
I believe that all of us should think of the dire consequences that could occur if this legislation is passed, and if we are troubled by them, we should call our Illinois state representative with this message: Vote no on HB 2354.
