Choice is clear in Lisle mayor race
For anyone who has had the chance to watch the Lisle mayoral debate, or for anyone who has reviewed the positions of the candidates, the choice is clear.
Joe Broda deserves to progress on his wonderful vision for the village. Gary Ledvora appears to be, in my opinion, a glib empty suit. His one issue is the utility tax.
Apparently, he is clueless as to which services to reduce or abandon if such a tax is eliminated. Will the residents of Lisle put up with less snow plowing or no leaf pickup if Lisle can't afford them? What else would he have us do without?
I note also that Ledvora opposed the Garfield area stormwater basin project; that's the one awarded the Mitigation Award by the Illinois Association of Floodplain and Stormwater Management. Ledvora wanted to put housing in that floodplain.
Residents of Lisle must surely be chuckling over Ledvora's contention that he would do something about the Meijer situation. This is the same Meijer that Mayor Broda and the village board have stopped dead in its tracks. We really don't need a mayor with so little grasp of the situation in our wonderful hometown.
This is a village that has been recognized statewide and nationally for the quality of its life. Joe Broda's vision has contributed mightily toward that. What is worrying is that there are still some out there who don't realize there is a contest, or who won't vote. It would be a real shame if Mayor Broda were turned out because of voter apathy.
