Spanish newsletter is un-American

While reading your lead article "Slates Split by Spanish," I was absolutely appalled to read that certain Wauconda trustee candidates want to accommodate Hispanic residents differently than the German, Irish, Indian, English, Russian, Polish and other nationalities that immigrated to this great land of ours.

If I understood the article correctly, 84 percent of Wauconda's 9,400 residents are NOT Hispanic. Certain trustee candidates that want to worry about the Hispanics' ability to read their newsletter.

If they want to read Wauconda's newsletter, then learn how to read English. Every other nationality that immigrated here did. If we as Americans even think of this ludicrous behavior, we will lose what made this country great.

I absolutely welcome the Hispanic population to immigrate and reside in America. But for the love of God, they need to learn English like the rest of us. I'd like to see us immigrate to a town of 9,400 people in Mexico and see if they would consider having their newsletter also printed in English.

Please people, buy a clue!
