United Way issued challenge

Fox Valley United Way has started a fundraising campaign that aims to leverage a $50,000 contribution into $250,000 to provide emergency food and shelter services. The $50,000 in seed money for the Dunham Emergency Assistance Fund came from the Dunham Foundation, a private foundation honoring the legacy of Aurora businessman and philanthropist John C. Dunham. The Dunham Foundation also will match up to $100,000 in donations made to the Fox Valley United Way to provide emergency assistance. The match means a donation of $5 becomes $10, and a contribution of $50 becomes $100. In less than 10 days from the start of the campaign, Fox Valley businesses and individuals had contributed more than $11,000 to the fund. Checks should be made out to the Fox Valley United Way, with the memo stating the money is for the Dunham Emergency Assistance Fund, and sent to the Fox Valley United Way, 40 W. Downer Place, Aurora, IL 60506. For details, see uwfoxvalley.org.
