It's time to get behind 'Fairtax'
If there was ever an argument for the Fairtax to be adopted, it is the proposal currently under discussion to get back the AIG bonuses through the use of the IRS and the income tax system. It is scary to contemplate that our elected "leaders" so blatantly use the IRS to punish - although this is an acknowledged fact - and to reward as well as punish. The bonus issue is a tempest in a teapot. It was a goof up by all concerned, so we should just move on to more important business. My main concern is the use of the IRS for punishment of perceived wrongdoing as well as to reward segments of our society. This is just plain wrong. But many of our politicians are quick to mold society through the use of taxation. The Fairtax would eliminate this as a tool for that purpose. I urge everyone to visit fairtax.org and become familiar with what it would accomplish. It is currently HR 25 in the House and S 296 in the Senate and is gradually gaining strength.
