Oak Brook selects fire chief:
Oak Brook has appointed Tom McEllin as its new fire chief. McEllin had been serving as deputy fire chief and will be sworn in Friday. He began his firefighting career in 1977 with the Air Force and joined the Oak Brook Fire Department in 1981. He has associate degrees in fire science and business administration, a bachelor's degree in fire science management and a master's degree in public administration. He has been serving as deputy chief since 2005.
Riverwalk seeks volunteers:
Naperville is seeking volunteers to fill an open position on its Riverwalk Commission. The group normally meets at 7:30 a.m. on the second Wednesday of the month and works to promote, encourage and guide the development and use of the downtown path. Interested residents should visit www.naperville.il.us/boards.aspx to download and review an application form.
Lisle offers bird baths:
Order forms now are available for the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce's summer art project, "Bird Baths of Lisle." Sponsors may obtain a bird bath for $100, decorate it and place it on display this summer in downtown. The bird baths will be auctioned at the end of summer with proceeds going to nonprofit members of the chamber. For details, call (630) 964-0052.
