Enough is enough on tax increases
Our new governor wants to take the easy way out. Instead of managing the states business; making crucial decisions and prioritizing spend, he "wants it all." His answer: Raise taxes a whopping 50 percent.
It seems no aspect of our government anywhere is willing or capable of managing the business they have been entrusted with. You don't have to look far to find deficits. Washington, Springfield, and many local governments are all on the brink of financial collapse.
It's time we re-examine the role of government. It's time to assess what government can and cannot do. I can sympathize with the governor's plight. After all, he inherited this mess. I have no idea where our state legislature was the last 10 years.
This financial mess did not just happen. It has been brewing for some time. We are simply taxing people to death in this country. Most working people now pay 40-50 percent of their earnings in taxes of some sort, i.e. federal, social security, Medicare, state, county, property, sales tax, etc. The answer is not more taxes. The answer is more responsible spending.
It is about making the hard decisions of what we can and cannot afford to do. It is about making choices. It is about the same thing every American family now has to do every single day.
For me, I will vote against any incumbent who supports this tax increase. I encourage others to do the same. It's time to say enough is enough. If those in office won't make the tough choices then lets put somebody there who will. Write your legislators and tell them to vote no on the proposed state income tax increase.
