Neuqua wins another Grammy:

Neuqua Valley High School has been named a 2009 Grammy Signature School Gold winner by the Grammy Foundation as one of the nation's top three high school music education programs. This is the eighth time the Naperville school has been recognized by the Grammy Foundation, including being named the top music program in the country in 2005. This year's other top schools were Martin High School in Arlington, Texas, and Las Vegas International Academy of Performing and Visual Arts in Las Vegas. Neuqua's sister school, Waubonsie Valley in Aurora, has been recognized by the Grammy Foundation five times and was named a Signature Gold School in 2006. More than 20,000 public high schools are eligible for the honor.

Lisle man charged:

A 25-year-old Lisle man has been charged with residential burglary in connection with a Feb. 23 incident, Lisle police said Monday. Matthew T. McFarlin, of 1210 Burlington Ave., #1W, was being held Monday on $75,000 bond in DuPage County jail. Police said a resident returned to their home in the 4700 block of Winchester Avenue around 8 p.m. Feb. 23 and found a man standing in her kitchen. The suspect allegedly had forced his way through a basement window and had rummaged through the second-story bedrooms before being interrupted. Police said they recovered several fingerprints at the scene. Earlier this month police learned McFarlin had been released on parole after serving 14 months for residential burglaries in Lisle in November 2007. The homeowner was able to identify McFarlin and police said they were able to match his fingerprints to those taken at the scene.
