A group that spends resources carefully

Milton Township serves a good-sized population of unincorporated DuPage County. Most of the unincorporated residents live in an unincorporated area not by chance but by choice. Many do not have curbs and sidewalks and streetlights. We mostly use our own wells for water and a very few of us still believe private septic systems are the best method of sanitation for our neighborhood. We are the "Less [government] is more" crowd. We bought into and strive to maintain a simple and beautiful community. The current Milton Township elected officials and the administration they have formed are meeting our needs just fine. They are a conservative bunch who spends the resources at their disposal carefully.

Garry Muehlfelt, the highway commissioner, teamed up with DuPage County and combined the townships salt needs with the county's bid. This mitigated the effect of the huge price increase on road salt and saved the taxpayers money. He and his team did a superior job keeping the road ways of our subdivision clear during a challenging winter. I would stack the job that was done on our streets against any street in any village near here. Gary also helped us in Glen Ellyn Woods resolve a parking problem here last year; he went before the DuPage County Board on our behalf and collaborated with the DuPage County Sheriff's Department on the enforcement end. I recommend that Gary Muehlfelt and the other township officials be re-elected in the April 7 election. We are fortunate to have a great team in place. Basic good government that works.
