Garden seminar:

Wasco Nursery & Garden Center, 41W781 Route 64, will have a "hardscaping" seminar Saturday to raise money for the Fox Valley Wildlife Center. The 10 a.m. event will include a presentation on landscaping walls, walks, patios and backing structures. Admission is a $5 donation to the wildlife center. To reserve a seat, call (630) 584-4424.

Hear teachers play:

The Geneva Music Faculty Recital is at 3 p.m. Sunday at Fox Valley Presbyterian Church, 227 East Side Drive, in Geneva. Admission is $5 per individual, $15 per family. A reception will follow. Performers include Kelly Coughlin, Jason Flaks, Chrissa Flaks, Kevin Henrickson and Chuck Torgett. All proceeds go to the Geneva Music Boosters Scholarship Fund.

Italian night for hospice:

Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice is hosting "Escape to Villa Verone," an evening of all-you-can-eat food, entertainment, and a chance to win a Sanibel Island, Fla., getaway, at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Villa Verone, 416 Hamilton St., Geneva. Spaghetti fundraiser:

Daddio's Diner, 134 W. Wilson St., Batavia, will have a spaghetti dinner from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday to raise money for "Spreading Sunshine for Allie," an effort to buy a motorized wheelchair for a Batavia girl with cerebral palsy. Prices are $8 for adults and $4 for children, cash or check. Drive-up carryout will be available. For more information, visit alliegagnon.org.

Scholarship applications:

Applications are being accepted for scholarships that Central DuPage Hospital's Auxiliary will award to high school, college and graduate students interested in pursuing a career in health care. To qualify, students must have plans to attend a college, university or graduate program in the fall. They also must document academic excellence, plan to pursue a career in health care and live within Central DuPage Hospital's service area. Scholarship guidelines and applications are available online at cdh.org. The completed application, personal statement, transcripts and reference letters are due by March 31.

Aurora has best water again:

For the third time in a row, Aurora's water has been named best in the state. The Illinois Section American Water Works Association held its 15th annual water taste contest Tuesday in Springfield, featuring finalists from Illinois' regional taste test contests. Aurora qualified for the state competition by winning the Kane County Water Association contest conducted in mid-December in Batavia. Next, said Bill Munch, superintendent of water production, samples of Aurora's water will go on to the American Water Works Association national competition June 14 to 18 in San Diego.
