Wheaton police hunting armed bank robber

Police say they're hunting for an armed robber who escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash Wednesday from TCF Bank in Wheaton.

Police said the man entered the Jewel store that houses the bank at 30 Danada Square West about 7:40 p.m. and demanded money at the bank counter. Witnesses said he had a handgun in the waistband of his pants.

The suspect is described as a white man, about 45 to 55 years old, with reddish hair. He is about 6 feet tall with a heavy build and was wearing a black baseball cap, dark glasses and a gray hooded sweatshirt at the time.

No injuries were reported.
