Aurora Junior Woman's Club: The Aurora Junior Woman's Club, together with Aurora Children's Dental Service, is presenting their 50th musical production, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," at 7 p.m. Friday, March 20, and 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, March 21 in the West Aurora High School auditorium, 1201 W. New York St., Aurora. Tickets are $5 with proceeds benefiting Aurora Children's Dental Services. The Aurora Junior Woman's Club/Aurora Children's Dental Services is a nonprofit organization made up of women dedicated to serving the needs of Aurora's children for 50 years. Each year, the club stages a play to entertain the families of the Fox Valley. The cost of the tickets is deliberately kept low so families that ware on a limited budget can experience the joy of seeing live performances. These plays are rewritten, edited, performed, directed and staged by the club members. The profits from the performances go directly back to the community in the form of dental work for children who otherwise would not be able to afford the care. It also funds donations to school theater programs, Make-A-Wish programs and other local charitable endeavors.

Welcome Club: The Welcome Club of the Fox Valley invites you to join us at 11:30 a.m., on Saturday, March 21 at the Lincoln Inn Banquets, on Route 31, in Batavia for our Fashion Show luncheon fundraiser to benefit our charity, the Elderday Center in Batavia.

Tickets to the annual fundraiser are $35 per person. Call Gail (630) 587-8567 for tickets.

Fashions will be provided by the Dress Barn, in Geneva, and modeled by Welcome Club members, and Elderday clients and staff.

At the luncheon, they will have an auction of baskets put together by our various activity groups, and a 50/50 raffle.

On Monday, April 4, the Welcome Club of the Fox Valley hosts their monthly meeting at 7 p.m. at the Fox Valley Presbyterian Church, 227 East Side Drive in Geneva. Pam Schutt, a professional fashion consultant, makeup artist, and aesthetician, will share the secrets to looking your best, by dressing for your specific shape.

The Elderday Center is a supervised day program for older adults, and offers structured daily activity to help them remain vital and maintain their independence. Older adults with memory problems, or depression particularly benefit from Elderday, as it offers them opportunities to socialize, and participate in a variety of group activities and programs. The Welcome Club of the Fox Valley is a social and philanthropic organization for women in the area who are interested in meeting and making new friends through various social and fundraising activities. This calendar year, the charity is the Elderday Center in Batavia.

Many members reside in areas around the Fox Valley, including Aurora, Batavia, Bartlett, Elburn, Elgin, Geneva, Lily Lake, Maple Park, North Aurora, St. Charles, South Elgin, Sugar Grove and surrounding areas.

The group meets regularly during the months of September through June. Each monthly meeting includes a meet-and-greet, which kicks off the meeting, followed by a short general business meeting, an entertaining and informative program.

Club activities include breakfast, lunch, and dinner outings; group games such as Bunco, bridge, mah-jongg, pinochle, tile rummy, Mexican train dominoes, and scrabble; Lifestories, a memoir group, mini-book groups, movie and theater outings; a sewing group; a walking group; a special 'singles' group; an end of year picnic; informal dinner parties, and more. New activities and interests groups are added frequently by our members. The annual membership fee of $25 provides you with a membership directory and a monthly newsletter that recaps the upcoming monthly events and activities.

Aurora Kiwanis Club: The Aurora Kiwanis Club will hold its 59th annual Pancake Day from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, at Aurora Central Catholic High School, 1255 N. Edgelawn Drive in Aurora. Profits will benefit Kiwanis charities worldwide. The menu includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, and milk, juice or coffee. Assisting Kiwanians will be members of Aurora University's Circle K Club, college students sponsored by local Kiwanians. Tickets are $5 per person or $20 per family.

Geneva American Legion: The 17th Northeastern District Masons are having a spaghetti dinner fundraiser to benefit the Geneva American Legion Post 75. The dinner will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 22 at the Geneva American Legion Post 75, 22 Second St. in Geneva. Cost for adults is $6, with kids dinners priced at $4. Kids, age 3 and younger, get in free. A cash bar is available. Bring your family and friends and help support the Geneva American Legion.

League of Women Voters: Voters will have an opportunity to hear from candidates at two public forums sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Geneva-St. Charles. Geneva school board, aldermanic, and library board candidates will take center stage at a forum at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 22 at the Geneva Public Library, 127 James St. The public is invited to attend these free forums.

Each of the forums will include statements from the candidates and an opportunity for audience members to submit questions to the candidates. A panel of representatives from local newspapers also will pose questions to the candidates. A League member will moderate the forum.

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan organization which fosters informed participation in government. The League studies and takes positions on issues, but it never endorses candidates. The purpose of the forums is to offer voters an opportunity to hear candidates side-by-side in a neutral setting.

Kane County Genealogical Society: The Kane County Genealogical Society will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 26, in the first-floor meeting room of the Geneva History Center, 113 S. Third St., Geneva. The guest speaker for the evening will be Kim Malay, of the Farnsworth Foundation, discussing the "Underground Railway in Kane County." Malay has spent many years researching the history of Kane County. She is working with the Farnsworth Foundation in an effort to rebuild the J.F. Farnsworth Mansion and has been associated with the St. Charles Heritage Commission. All are welcome to attend. The mission of the Kane County Genealogical Society is to gather and preserve regional historical records and serve as a countywide educational resource for those interested in genealogy. St. Charles Singles Club: The St. Charles Singles Club is celebrating its 32nd year as a nonprofit social and dance club for singles age 40 and older. Younger singles are also welcome. The dances are held on the second and fourth Mondays at Riverside Receptions, Route 38 and North River Lane in Geneva. Cost for members is $6 or $8 for visitors. It includes professional dance instruction 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., dancing 7:30 to 11 p.m. On Monday, March 30, a live band dance will be held from 7-11 p.m. at the Lincoln Inn, 1345 S. Batavia Avenue (Route 31), Batavia. Cost for members is $8 or $10 for visitors. It will be dressy to nice casual clothing. Other club activities: Saturday breakfasts; pinochle; game and pizza nights; meet and eats; plays; trips; golf; bowling; picnics; concerts; and house parties. Pottawatomie Garden Club: The Pottawatomie Garden Club will be awarding a $3,000 scholarship to any student interested in studies related to botany, ecology, forestry, agriculture, horticulture or the environment. Applicants must be a high school senior or have a high school diploma and reside within the St. Charles School District boundaries. To receive the scholarship, college student must be enrolled full-time during the 2008-2009 school year. Applications must be postmarked on or before April 3. Fox Valley Bike and Ski Club: The Fox Valley Bike and Ski Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 8 at the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia. For the April meeting, Hal Honeyman of the Bike Rack in St. Charles will speak on "Project Mobility," and recount his experiences with being honored in the Hallmark Special this past Christmas. Some members missed this program on TV, when it originally aired, and this will offer a chance to see it and to hear from Hal.

Fox Valley Newcomers: Are your nonverbal messages sending out the message you want people to know about you? Can wearing yellow to certain functions work against you? Will people react positively, or negatively to certain colors, scents, music, or body language?

Lorrie Walters Marsiglio, author of "Subliminal Communications Month," and a guidebook on publicity and marketing ideas, along with her over 30 years experience as an educator, columnist, and radio, and cable TV host, will share stories and tips that will inform, and educate her audience about the subtle meanings, and impressions, of the choices they make.

The Fox Valley Newcomers and Neighbors Club is a social and philanthropic organization that meets regularly September through May, via special interest groups, and monthly luncheons. Although we consider ourselves primarily a social organization, we also enjoy participating in community service, and each year we undertake one or more charitable, humanitarian, or social welfare projects. This year, the charity is the Golden Diners Program, which provides nutritionally-balanced meals for those age 60 plus in the Kane County area, via home delivered meals, and at a facility in North Aurora. The Fox Valley Newcomers and Neighbors group meets regularly during the months of September through May via special interest groups and our monthly luncheons.

The luncheon meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month at many of the area restaurants in the Fox Valley are open to all current members, prospective members, and guests with prepaid reservations.

St. Charles Mothers' Club: The St. Charles Mothers' Club will host its second annual Spring Fling family-focused fundraiser and party. This year's event will be a circus themed party titled "Spring Fling Under the Big Top!" The event will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at the St. Charles Park District's gym.

The event will include children's activities, entertainment and food galore! The party will feature local entertainment including a sword display, martial arts, dancing, cheerleading, and gymnastics. To purchase tickets, call (630) 217-MOMS or e-mail stcharl@stcharlesmothersclub.org.

In keeping with its mission to provide assistance to family-oriented nonprofit groups in the community, the club will be utilizing the funds generated by this event to support organizations geared toward helping women and children in the Fox Valley. Past recipients in recent years have included community programs such as the Sherry Costello Memorial Scholarship Fund which awards scholarships to mothers who are continuing their education to better their lives and the lives of their families and the Breakfast Bar Program that provides breakfast bars to St. Charles District 303 elementary schools for children who arrive at school having no breakfast.

Since its inception in 1924, the St. Charles Mothers' Club has worked diligently to assist families and mothers in need in the Fox Valley, given educational scholarships to mothers in financial need, sponsored breakfast bar programs, provided holiday food and gifts to needy families and contributed financially to various charities in the Fox Valley area. The Aurora Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's Association: Accepting applications for its 2009 college scholarships. Any high school senior within the Tri-City area or an already enrolled college student may apply for the scholarships. Applications may be obtained at high school counselor's offices or by calling (630) 879-3744. The deadline for the receipt of the completed applications is April 21. Scholarships are announced in May with recipients receiving an invitation to the June chapter meeting.
