Bojan is the right choice for Oakbrook Terrace mayor

If the nation's shaky economy wasn't enough of a concern, the winner of the two-way race for mayor of Oakbrook Terrace on April 7 will face several other crucial issues that quickly will define the success or failure of his administration. Key among those concerns will be what influence, if any, the city can exert on the proposed Lakes of Royce Renaissance project on 80 acres between Butterfield Road and 16th Street. In addition, the city is struggling to pay for a water system that is simply too costly for 350 users to maintain.

These are the kind of challenges that will require a steady hand and some political experience and that's why we endorse Jim Bojan, a two-term city councilman from the third ward, for the mayor's spot. Bojan has a solid business background, a steady track record from his eight years on the council, a strong working knowledge of the issues and what appears to be a genuine desire to serve residents and maintain an open administration.

Both he and his opponent, Tony Ragussi, a former police officer, pledge to hold the line on taxes.

In the two-way race to fill Bojan's third ward seat we endorse Ahmed Sayyed, who is campaigning on a platform of sensible development, expanding the base of Lake Michigan water users and his financial experience. His opponent is Frank Di Iorio.
