Teschky has earned return as supervisor

On April 7 voters will have an opportunity to cast their ballots for candidates who will represent them at the grass roots level - people who seek election to local boards, such as the Maine Township board of trustees.

In 1989 I was elected Supervisor of Maine Township and Carol Teschky joined me as a trustee.

Carol Teschky remained on the Maine Township board and now is its Supervisor. Having spent 20 years as a trustee or supervisor, Carol understands the responsibilities of the job. Her board of trustees have achieved something remarkable in today's economy: in the past seven years the township tax rate has decreased from 7.59 percent to 6.5 percent!

Keeping township taxes low has always been a goal, and your Town Board has been living within the state tax cap limits every year since 2001.

Surely, voters in Maine Township will want to re-elect a township supervisor and board that has been the taxpayers' friend.

Also, the Maine Township Food Pantry has benefited from a new paper recycling program, and Avenues to Independence has been helped by a new electronics recycling program introduced by the Township Board.

These initiatives, along with improved service to veterans, seniors and those with disabilities, show that the incumbent Township elected officials are right to continue the job.

I urge you to vote April 7 in the nonpartisan contests for city, park, grade and high school and Oakton Community College boards, plus the Maine Township incumbents.
