Lake Zurich may fund high school officer

The village of Lake Zurich is planning to fund the school resource officer position at Lake Zurich High School. The position is among the recommended cuts Lake Zurich Unit District 95 is facing due to an anticipated $4 million shortfall in revenue. The village has applied for a COPS grant from the federal stimulus package, which would allow it to fund the position in addition to another vacant patrol position. "(The school resource officer) is an important initial point to stop problems before they start," said Village President John Tolomei.
