Dist. 304 to offer series of classes on parenting advice
This spring, Geneva School District 304 is again hosting a series of free workshops, "Parent-to-Parent/Lessons Learned."
This popular series of workshops gives parents advice and guidance on raising children in the 21st century using Bill Oliver's updated Parent-to-Parent 2000 and Lessons Learned series.
Each workshop is made up of four separate sessions, during which such topics as recognizing the signs and symptoms of an unhealthy child, the battle against teen drinking and drug use, and identifying the common traps parents fall into with children, among others, are discussed. Guidance is given in the battle against the growing "Toxic Culture" that students are exposed to today, and a new segment addresses the dangers of the Internet.
This program is valuable for parents of children of any age. Parents are invited to come see for themselves what lessons they can learn during one of two workshops scheduled this spring.
Class I will be held on Mondays April 6, April 13, April 20, and April 27 from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
Class II will be held on Tuesdays April 28, May 5, May 12, and May 19 from noon to 2:30 p.m.
All sessions will be held in the lower level conference room at the Geneva 304 District Administrative Offices, 227 N. Fourth St.
Each session focuses on different Lessons Learned, and while it is recommended that participants attend all four sessions of each class, it is not required. Participants can make up a missed session by attending with a different class. For example, if you are in Class I, but can't make the third session on April 20, you can join Class II for their third session on May 12.
To sign up or for information, contact Community Intervention Coordinator Chic Williams at (630) 463-3083. Leave your name, class number, and phone number. All workshops are free of charge.
