Fox Valley Homeowners Confederation: A free seminar on "Foreclosure, Delinquency, and Their Effects on Community Associations" will be offered from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 12 at the St. Charles Public Library, 1 S. Geneva American Legion: During the Lenten season, the Fox River - Geneva American Legion Post 75 has resumed its weekly Friday night Fish Fry Dinners. The dinners will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Fridays at the Legion post, Second and James streets, Geneva. Dinner choices include breaded fried cod, fried shrimp, fried chicken, french fries, homemade coleslaw, rolls and butter and coffee. Dinner prices are $7.50 to $9 and a cash bar is available. Kane County Audubon Society: On Saturday, March 14, join a bird walk with the Kane County Audubon Society at 8:30 a.m. at Les Arends Forest Preserve, 2S731 Route 31, Batavia. They will be looking for spring migrants and waterfowl. Call Nancy Schnaitman at (630) 365-9595.

On Saturday, March 21, join the Fermilab Bird Walk at 8 a.m. They will be looking for spring migrants, waterfowl and early arrivals. League of Women Voters: Voters will have an opportunity to hear from candidates at two public forums sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Geneva-St. Charles. St. Charles mayoral and aldermanic candidates will be featured in a forum at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 15 at the St. Charles Public Library, 1 S. Sixth Ave.

Geneva school board, aldermanic, and library board candidates will take center stage at a forum at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 22 at the Geneva Public Library, 127 James St. The public is invited to attend these free forums.

Each of the forums will include statements from the candidates and an opportunity for audience members to submit questions to the candidates. A panel of representatives from local newspapers also will pose questions to the candidates. A League member will moderate the forum.

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan organization which fosters informed participation in government. The League studies and takes positions on issues, but it never endorses candidates. The purpose of the forums is to offer voters an opportunity to hear candidates side-by-side in a neutral setting.

Batavia American Legion: The Batavia American Legion Post 504 meets at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at the Batavia VFW Post 1197 Canteen, 645 S. River St., Batavia. The next meeting will be Tuesday, March 17. The Batavia American Legion Post 504 is currently looking for additional new members. Aurora Junior Woman's Club: The Aurora Junior Woman's Club, together with Aurora Children's Dental Service, is presenting their 50th musical production, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," at 7 p.m. Friday, March 20, and 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, March 21 in the West Aurora High School auditorium, 1201 W. New York St., Aurora. Tickets are $5 with proceeds benefiting Aurora Children's Dental Services. The Aurora Junior Woman's Club/Aurora Children's Dental Services is a nonprofit organization made up of women dedicated to serving the needs of Aurora's children for 50 years. Each year, the club stages a play to entertain the families of the Fox Valley. The cost of the tickets is deliberately kept low so families that ware on a limited budget can experience the joy of seeing live performances. These plays are rewritten, edited, performed, directed and staged by the club members. The profits from the performances go directly back to the community in the form of dental work for children who otherwise would not be able to afford the care. It also funds donations to school theater programs, Make-A-Wish programs and other local charitable endeavors.

Welcome Club: The Welcome Club of the Fox Valley invites you to join us at 11:30 a.m., on Saturday, March 21 at the Lincoln Inn Banquets, on Route 31, in Batavia for our Fashion Show luncheon fundraiser to benefit our charity, the Elderday Center in Batavia.

Fashions will be provided by the Dress Barn, in Geneva, and modeled by Welcome Club members, and Elderday clients and staff.

At the luncheon, they will have an auction of baskets put together by our various activity groups, and a 50/50 raffle. The group meets regularly during the months of September through June. Each monthly meeting includes a meet-and-greet, which kicks off the meeting, followed by a short general business meeting, an entertaining and informative program. Geneva American Legion: The 17th Northeastern District Masons are having a spaghetti dinner fundraiser to benefit the Geneva American Legion Post 75. The dinner will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 22 at the Geneva American Legion Post 75, 22 Second St. in Geneva. Cost for adults is $6, with kids dinners priced at $4. Kids, age 3 and younger, get in free. A cash bar is available. Bring your family and friends and help support the Geneva American Legion.

St. Charles Singles Club: The St. Charles Singles Club is celebrating its 32nd year as a nonprofit social and dance club for singles age 40 and older. Younger singles are also welcome. The dances are held on the second and fourth Mondays at Riverside Receptions, Route 38 and North River Lane in Geneva. Cost for members is $6 or $8 for visitors. It includes professional dance instruction 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., dancing 7:30 to 11 p.m. On Monday, March 30, a live band dance will be held from 7-11 p.m. at the Lincoln Inn, 1345 S. Fox Valley Bike and Ski Club: The Fox Valley Bike and Ski Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 8 at the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia. Hal Honeyman of the Bike Rack in St. Charles will speak on "Project Mobility," and recount his experiences with being honored in the Hallmark Special this past Christmas. Some members missed this program on TV, when it originally aired, and this will offer a chance to see it and to hear from Hal.

The Aurora Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's Association: Accepting applications for its 2009 college scholarships. Any high school senior within the Tri-City area or an already enrolled college student may apply for the scholarships. Applications may be obtained at high school counselor's offices or by calling (630) 879-3744. The deadline for the receipt of the completed applications is April 21. Scholarships are announced in May with recipients receiving an invitation to the June chapter meeting.
