It's important to 'buy DuPage'
I commend you for your Feb. 17 editorial, "Why buying local matters even more," and bringing this to the public's attention during these economically challenging times.
The old axiom - "charity begins at home" - has never been more true than now. During this period of worldwide economic decline, it is imperative that, as a community, residents of DuPage County stick together by buying products and purchasing services locally whenever possible.
At a recent session of the DuPage County Board, I challenged all of us to "buy DuPage." Your reference to the statistics that "for every $100 spent at a locally owned store, $45 is returned to the area's economy," is dramatic evidence for each of us to consciously buy DuPage.
