Boy dies after father's abuse arrest

DECATUR -- A 7-month-old boy has died a day after his father was jailed for allegedly hurting him.

Caden Sollman died Thursday at a Peoria hospital and doctors say his injuries were consistent with being shaken violently.

Macon County First Assistant State's Attorney Jay Scott says Jeffrey M. Sollman is being held on $250,000 bond at the Macon County Jail.

Decatur police say they arrested Sollman Wednesday after he told his wife he'd hurt their son while taking care of him.

Scott says Sollman was charged with aggravated battery to a child before Caden died. Those charges may be upgraded.

Sollman does not yet have an attorney. A Decatur-area telephone listed for Sollman is disconnected.
