No. 9 Batavia (19-7) vs. No. 1 Neuqua Valley (28-1)

When: 7:30 p.m. today.

Outlook: Before the playoffs began Neuqua Valley coach Todd Sutton said, "Batavia doesn't lose a regional at home." Here's the test. The sharp-passing Bulldogs, who've won 15 regional titles dating to 1965, advanced with a 59-34 victory over nemesis Geneva. Senior guards David Bryant and Ben Potter scored a respective 20 and 16 points, a little more than their averages. Coach Jim Roberts' club held Geneva to only 11 field goals. Neuqua Valley, which beat Geneva 64-45 on Feb. 10 and has won 20 straight games, got a huge scare out of the gate, surviving No. 17 seed Benet 59-57 on Dwayne Evans' bank shot with 1.2 seconds left in overtime. That may focus their intensity, but what looked to be a greater problem was 7-of-27 first-half shooting that kept the lower seed in the game.
