Police: Naperville boy may have tried to run away
Naperville police are investigating Monday morning's disappearance of a 12-year-old boy as a potential runaway case.
Chicago police found the boy about 11 a.m. at O'Hare International Airport, according to Naperville police, who say he took the keys to his family's car and left his home early Monday morning.
Naperville police said the boy then apparently drove the family's 2008 Hyundai to the airport. Police said the boy was unharmed and was there of his own free will.
The boy may have quarreled with a family member Sunday night, triggering the incident, said Cmdr. Dave Hoffman of the Naperville Police Department.
Hoffman said the boy took the keys sometime after 2 a.m., left his house and backed the vehicle out of the garage.
Authorities first believed the boy may have been sleepwalking when he took the car, as he has a history of sleepwalking.
