Cameras aren't the culprit, drivers are

In response to the red light camera in Schaumburg raising a red flag, I'm not quite sure how the Village of Schaumburg can justify wasting taxpayers money to install red light cameras at the Meacham and Woodfield Road intersection then turn them off.

Talk about waste, and for what? I live in Schaumburg and work in Waukegan and this is one of three that I motor through daily.

I, personally, have been ticketed at the one on Green Bay and Belvidere intersection and I deserved it. I did not come to a complete stop; not because I was confused but rather I was trying to beat the oncoming truck.

I've watched the flash of those particular cameras nabbing motorists while driving and to be honest, 98 percent of the passers do not stop and deserve the ticket so again, I have to ask, why are you backing off?

Oh yeah, "not intended to be a money revenue," that's the concern, which should not even be an issue. It isn't an issue in Waukegan. Committee Chairman George Dunham said "we're astounded at the number of people who don't seem to get it."

Let's see, if you run a red light turning left, would you get a ticket? Why does it matter which direction you're turning, if the light is red, you stop. Get it!
