Archdiocese should be investigated

I could not agree more with Ms. Hauter's recent letter to the editor suggesting the archdiocese of Chicago needs to be further investigated. I, too, call upon Patrick Fitzgerald and Lisa Madigan to encourage, or better yet, insist on our current District Attorney, Anita Alvarez, doing a much more thorough investigation and prosecution of the Archdiocese than has usually been done in the past.

As Ms. Hauter mentioned, both our politicians and church officials and staff are corrupt and we are sick and tired of both. When our former District Attorney, Richard Devine, was asked why the Archdiocese was not prosecuted for failing to follow the very clear state of Illinois mandated reporter laws, he said "there was no evidence of wrongdoing" when a quick read of the Cardinal's own deposition spells out the evidence even for those of us who are not lawyers. How much clearer need it be? It's time for someone to stand up for the little people especially and hold accountable all those in authority. Separation of church and state clearly does not apply here.
