Roselle police arrest one in tobacco sting
Roselle police conducted undercover tobacco compliance inspections of 30 businesses last week, arresting one person.
Police said the inspections are conducted regularly through the year to make sure merchants are complying with minimum age laws prohibiting the sale of tobacco products to anyone under age 18.
John G. Heidan, 39, of the 400 block of Beachwood Drive in Schaumburg was charged Thursday with unlawful sale of tobacco to a minor, police said. He's an employee of the Shell station at 4 W. Irving Park Road. He was released after posting a $75 bond and will appear in DuPage County Court, police said.
