'Passion of Blago' column ill-conceived

Burt Constable's Jan. 24 column regarding our governor's problems was poorly conceived; the headline sure was. Even on the editorial page you took offense to a comparison that was insulting (Blagojevich and Pearl Harbor).

But then you printed Burt's "The Passion of Blagojevich," an obvious reference to "The Passion of the Christ," with no regard for the millions of Americans who love and follow Jesus of Nazareth.

The term was at worst blasphemy, at best offensive and in poor taste, not even a valid comparison. There is no comparison with any person in difficulty and the suffering that Jesus endured to provide eternal life for all who would trust in him for salvation.

I know that in recent years it has been open season on believers in Christ, the only religious group that it is apparently OK to put down, deride openly and in a hostile way criticize, legislate against.

I think an apology is in order, first of all to the lord himself, and secondly to those of us who love and worship him, grateful for his amazing love for us. When you think about who Christ is, being so flippant in reference to him seems so wrong. He readily forgives, as do all who are truly his.
