Palatine

• Chris J. Jepson, 53, of the 1100 block of West King Arthur Court, Palatine, was arrested around 10:40 p.m. Feb. 19 at his home and charged with local ordinance assault and battery against a recovery service agent who was attempting to tow Jepson's Cadillac, police said. The agent and a co-worker locked themselves in the tow truck and waited for officers to arrive.

• Two teenage girls stole a $70 Chicago White Sox jacket from Sports Fanatic, 655 E. Dundee Road, around 1 p.m. Feb. 20 and drove away in a brown Ford.

• Burglars broke into a 1998 Toyota Avalon on the 1300 block of North Rand Road between 7:15-8:15 p.m. Feb. 21 and stole newly-purchased groceries and toys; total loss was estimated at $260.

• Someone broke into a 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck on the 500 block of East Spruce Drive between 4-9:50 p.m. Feb. 21 and stole a GPS valued at $250.

• Someone stole a radar detector, radio faceplate and CDs out of a 1999 Pontiac Bonneville in a hotel lot on the 1500 block of East Dundee Road overnight Feb. 21-22; total loss was estimated at $390.

Schaumburg

• Kevin M. Desecki, 29, of the 2000 block of Hassell Road, Hoffman Estates, was arrested at a restaurant on the 800 block of East Algonquin Road, around 1 a.m. Feb. 18 and charged with battery after police said he punched a man in the head and hurled a glass cane that struck a female bartender. His court date is March 10.

• Halka V. Fijer, 28, of the 1900 block of Jamestown Drive, Palatine, was arrested Feb. 18 and charged with retail theft from Nordstrom in Woodfield Mall; her court date is March 11.

• Tiffany D. Parker, 29, of the 300 block of West Prairie Circle, Itasca, was arrested Feb. 18 and charged with retail theft from JC Penney in Woodfield Mall; her court date is April 3.

• A 2009 Chevrolet Impala in a hotel lot on the 0-100 block of North Martingale Road was broken into overnight Feb. 18-19; the in-dash stereo/GPS unit was stolen. Total loss was estimated at $700.

• Someone broke into a 2009 Ford Fusion on the 1500 block of Thoreau Drive between 10 a.m. Feb. 18 and 2:15 p.m. Feb. 19 and stole a GPS unit. Total loss was estimated at $300.

• Someone broke into a 2004 Toyota Sienna at the Metra depot, 2000 S. Springinsguth Road, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Feb. 19 and stole a GPS unit. Total loss was estimated at $450.

Arlington Heights

• A motorist drove through Klehm Park, 1601 E. Hawthorne St., between 8 a.m. Feb. 17 and 1:30 p.m. Feb. 18 and tore up 200 feet of grass. Damage was estimated at $1,200.

Des Plaines

• Catherine M. Spilotros, 47, of the 2900 block of North 76th Ave., Elmwood Park, was arrested around 1:50 a.m. Feb. 22 at a bar on the 800 block of Rand Road, and charged with battery; her court date is March 11.

• Ruben I. Juarez, 19, of the 1600 block of Howard Avenue, Des Plaines, was arrested around 2:25 a.m. Feb. 20 on Howard Avenue near River Road and charged with disorderly conduct, illegal possession of alcohol by a minor, and driving under the influence of alcohol. Police say Juarez asked a 32-year-old stranger for directions, and then tailed the man in his car on westbound Touhy Avenue, northbound Mannheim Road, eastbound Oakton Street and southbound River Road, as the victim kept a 911 dispatcher on the line and relayed his location until officers found and stopped Juarez, whose court date is March 18.

• Burglars forced open the front door to a business complex on the 200 block of East Howard Avenue between 7:30-7:37 p.m. Feb. 22; a flat-screen TV was stolen. Total loss was estimated at $2,800.

• A 2006 Jeep Commander was vandalized while parked at the Cumberland Metra depot between 6:40 a.m. and 5 p.m. Feb. 20. Damage was estimated at $1,000.

• Someone broke a gate lock at a storage yard on the 1200 block of East Golf Road between noon Feb. 19 and 8 a.m. Feb. 20, tried but failed to cut the lock on a storage trailer, broke into a 2003 Chevrolet truck and stole a concrete saw. Total loss was estimated at $800.

Mount Prospect

• Erik J. Najera, 17, of the 2000 block of West Algonquin Road, Mount Prospect, and Jesus A. Resendez, 19, of the 1700 block of Mansard Lane, Mount Prospect, were arrested between 7:15-7:30 p.m. Feb. 17 after police say they spray painted graffiti on exterior walls and doors at an elementary school on the 1800 block of Pheasant Trail. Najara was charged with three counts of criminal defacement for the school vandalism and for spray painting graffiti on two apartment buildings on the 2000 block of West Algonquin Road and 1400 block of Brownstone Avenue Feb. 15, police said. Resendez was charged with one count of criminal defacement. Their court date is March 12.

• A vandal hurled a 2-inch black metal pipe through a double-pane picture window at a home on the 1000 block of Boxwood Drive around 11 p.m. Feb. 19. Damage was estimated at $1,600.

• Vandals shot BB-gun pellets or used a slingshot to break four windows at Lincoln Junior High School, 700 W. Lincoln St., between 11 a.m. Feb. 21 and 11:50 a.m. Feb. 22. Damage was estimated at $2,000.

• Burglars broke into a 1999 Chevrolet Tracker on the 1400 block of South Busse Road between 2:30 a.m. and 3:41 p.m. Feb. 22 and stole an in-dash CD player. Total loss was estimated at $550.

• A man in his 30s was seen stealing a $450 snowblower from a home on the 100 block of North Fairview Avenue around 10:30 p.m. Feb. 20. He pushed the snowblower to a car parked at Fairview Avenue and Henry Street, where he loaded the snowblower and drove away.

• A 1997 Acura Integra and a 1999 Toyota Camry were broken into between 8 p.m. Feb. 21 and 10:58 a.m. Feb. 22 on the 1800 block of West Palm Drive. Ten dollars and the in-dash radio/CD player detachable faceplate was taken from the Integra; the thief tried and failed to steal the in-dash radio/CD from the Camry. Total damage was estimated at $450.

Prospect Heights

• Apartment buildings on the 600 block of Pinecrest Drive and 500 block of Love Drive were defaced with spray paint between 9:30-10:15 p.m. Feb. 20; a stop sign on the 600 block of Piper Lane was also hit.

• Vandals spray painted gang graffiti on the vacant Dominick's store, 1241 N. Rand Road, between 6 p.m. Feb. 21 and 9:38 a.m. Feb. 22.

Rolling Meadows

• A brown cart and green hose were stolen out of a garage on the 5500 block of Carriageway Drive between Feb. 13-19. Loss was estimated at $50.

• A vehicle on the 4700 block of Arbor Drive was broken into between 10 p.m. Feb. 18 and noon Feb. 19; a GPS holder was taken. Loss was estimated at $210.

Wheeling

• Someone stole an India passport, Social Security card and $10 out of an unlocked 2004 Toyota Corolla parked at a store on the 1400 block of Lake-Cook Road between 10-11 a.m. Feb. 18.

• Vandals wrote graffiti Feb. 20 on the 2000 block of Foster Avenue.
