Letter writer blamed too much on Bush

This is in response to Anne Krick's letter of Feb 12. First of all, our problems are a result of both parties playing this political game with our lives.

Neither party could possibly lay claim to "not being involved in this mess."

Anne is correct that most people writing letters to the editor have basically no clue, but I feel that she's part of the problem.

For example, she claims that the "Bush" tax cuts that we received last year didn't work (how does she know it would not have been worse?). Second, if the tax cuts didn't work, why are there now "Obama" tax cuts of roughly the same amount in this new bailout plan? Thirdly, yes, there was corporate greed, but do you really think Bush and Cheney were behind every corporate stupid decision in America?

Taking a simple economics class teaches the basics of what happens to an economy that is taxed too much, so structuring tax law such that "corporations should have some incentive to hire more workers, produce product and sell product" makes tremendous sense; otherwise there are no jobs for you or me.

If you're upset about corporate tax breaks, then talk about restructuring the tax laws to prevent excessive/lavish spending and reward job creation and productivity. I'm not sure that three weeks in office makes President Obama an economic wizard.

Plus, I didn't see any "integrity chops" she claims he earned picking cabinet members, as I only observed people with tax troubles and former lobbyists getting nominated.

I owe no allegiance to either of the two national parties. I enjoy reading the newspapers and becoming more knowledgeable on all issues, and then voting for politicians who match my thoughts. I could only wish everyone else would do the same.
