Wonder Lake man arrested in Lakemoor home invasion

A 25-year-old Wonder Lake man faces home invasion charges after authorities say he broke into a Lakemoor home and threatened to kill the woman inside.

If convicted of the Class X felony, Justin Hamilton, of 3614 E. Lakeshore Drive, could face up to 30 years behind bars, McHenry County sheriff's police said through a news release early Wednesday.

Officials said the female victim phoned police early Monday morning and claimed a man had forced his way into the home, demanded money and threatened to kill her.

Police said the woman was home alone and complied with Hamilton's demand.

Police said Hamilton left the residence shortly after receiving the money, and fled on foot with the victim's cell phone.

Sheriff's police searched the area, recovered the victim's phone and learned Hamilton was the main suspect, officials said.

Hamilton was found at his Wonder Lake home and was arrested without incident Tuesday, officials said.

He is held in McHenry County jail, awaiting a bond hearing, officials said.
