Lombard stickers go on sale

Lombard vehicle stickers go on sale March 1 at village hall and many area banks. All vehicles registered or garaged in the village - including leased vehicles and company cars - are required to display a current sticker. This year's sticker includes the village's 140th anniversary logo. The stickers cost $15 for passenger vehicles ($3 for senior citizens), $12 for motorcycles, $30 for recreational vehicles and between $30 and $110 for trucks, depending on their weight. Failure to display a sticker can result in a $50 fine.

Road work set to begin

Naperville officials are cautioning motorists that beginning March 2 traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction at 75th and Washington streets as part of an intersection improvement project. Motorists traveling through the intersection should expect delays, with work on the project not scheduled for completion until 2011.

Police crackdown on DUIs

Glendale Heights police say they arrested 13 motorists for driving under the influence during a traffic enforcement campaign that ran from Jan. 30 through Feb. 15. Police said they also issued 438 citations - including 96 for speeding and 33 for driving with a suspended or revoked license - during the effort funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Red-light cameras go live

Villa Park police are issuing warning citations to motorists who run red lights at two intersections where cameras have been installed. The red-light cameras are located at the intersections of North and Villa avenues and Route 83 and Riverside Avenue, police said. The warning period for the camera at Route 83 and Riverside ends Feb. 28, police said, and the camera at North and Villa avenues goes live March 3. Violators caught by the cameras face $100 fines.
