Fox River Grove Memorial Library
Registration for the Fox River Grove Memorial Library's first Winter Reading Club continues by phone or in person through the end of February. The Reading Club celebrates the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth. Participants may read books of their own choosing. Youth who read at least three books may participate in Lincoln-themed games and raffle prizes. Adults who read at least one book may participate in the adult raffles. One featured raffle item for adult readers is a voucher for four tickets to see "Million Dollar Quartet" during March. Call the Library at (847) 639-2274 or stop in to register. Knitting Circle: The library's Knitting Circle announces that the meeting scheduled for Feb. 16 will be held on Monday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. Knitters of all ages and experience as well as new members are welcome. Register at the circulation desk or call the library at (847) 639-2274
Friends of the library: The Friends of the Fox River Grove Memorial Library is always looking for new members. Memberships forms are available at the circulation desk. The Friends of the Library will hold their next meeting at Tuesday, March 10 Meetings are always open to interested parties.
Book Club: The Monday Afternoon Book Club will meet at 1 p.m. Monday, March 16. The book club welcomes new members. March's discussion book is "Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress" by Dai Sijie. Registration is required at the circulation desk in adult services.
Getting ready for spring sports: The library will hold a program by board certified pediatric chiropractor, Dr. Michael Cody at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 18. This program will be a workshop on what to do to get your children ready for the upcoming spring sports, including important information on injury prevention. Nerd-Off: The library will hold their first "Nerd-Off for Tweens & Teens" in fifth to eighth grade from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday, March 19. Five teams consisting of three participants each will participate. Applications will be taken for the event beginning March 1 until all of the slots are filled.
