A little more Dr. Phil, less Limbaugh

In response to a letter from Robert Graham (Fence Post, Feb. 7), where should I start? To hope our president fails based on your homophobia is appalling.

You speak of gays as if they were second-class citizens. I have news for you, "All men are created equal." They are entitled to the same rights as all U.S. citizens, including yourself, believe it or not.

I am heterosexual, and have been married for more than 20 years, and am not threatened by equal rights for all. Maybe you need a little more Dr. Phil and a little less Rush Limbaugh to round out your day.

Maybe you should read George Orwell's "1984." Although it is fiction, people stopped each day for "hate speak." Rush Limbaugh gets three hours of the same five days a week and gets paid for it. If that's not enough for you, there is always Bill O'Reilly.

Please keep in mind that just because people may have a different opinion or lifestyle than you, it doesn't make them wrong. This is America, not Hitler's Germany where Rush would have made a perfect "Minister of Propaganda."

In response to your last paragraph regarding the economy "fixing itself," it is apparent to me that economics is not one of your strong suits, either.

George W. Bush was handed a budget surplus, gift-wrapped record deficits for President Obama to deal with, and almost pulled off making it look like the fault of all Democrats. Bush was a master of sweeping his problems under the rug, but that's another story.

In closing, I wish you well, and hope you keep an open mind as you crawl out of the Dark Ages. If President Obama fails, we all fail. Be careful what you wish for.
