Candidate forum planned
The Lombard-Villa Park League of Women Voters is sponsoring a Feb. 24 candidates forum at Lombard's village hall, 255 E. Wilson Ave. The forum, which is slated to begin at 7 p.m., will include candidates in contested school, library and village board races. Candidates running unopposed will be invited to make a brief statement at the end of the forum. The event will be moderated by Kathy Brenniman on behalf of the League of Women Voters. Lombard's Comcast Cable Channel 6 will tape the forum and air it several times until Election Day.
BU hosts science contest
More than 400 students from 11 area high schools and nine middle schools will converge on Lisle's Benedictine University at 9 a.m. March 21 to participate in an Illinois Science Olympiad regional competition. The contest is an academic competition encompassing all areas of science, including biology, chemistry, earth science, physics, engineering and computer technology. Winners in each region will advance to the state competition on April 25 at the University of Illinois.
Church celebrates 20th
Corpus Christi Catholic Church is celebrating its 20th anniversary in Carol Stream and is sponsoring several events to mark the occasion. As part of that celebration, the church is playing host to "Late Nite 2 - Sometimes We Feel Guilty Because We Are Guilty," a sequel to the popular "Late Nite Catechism." The play takes the stage at 3:30 p.m. March 1 at neighboring St. Isidore's Ministry Center, 427 Amy Trail Road, Bloomingdale. Tickets are $25 and available by calling the parish office at (630) 483-4673.
