Field day for Lindfors, Driscoll in 72-50 victory over Chicago Lain

Courtney Lindfors has found a second home in Lisle's gymnasium.

Driscoll's 6-foot-4 junior went off for 30 points, a career-high 19 rebounds and 5 blocks in the Highlanders' 72-50 win over Chicago Latin in Monday's Class 2A Lisle sectional semifinal.

A year ago Lindfors scored a career-best 34 points in a sectional final win over Walther Lutheran, also at Lisle. Now she has Driscoll (29-1), who will play Timothy Christian Thursday, a win away from the school's second sectional championship.

"Our thing was get the ball inside," Lindfors said. "Every pass to me was on."

All this, despite the tallest girl on the court playing in a game that better resembled a track meet - and with bad leg cramps.

"I tried to keep up with my teammates," Lindfors said. "Knowing the game was on the line, it pushed me."

Driscoll led 21-7 six minutes in behind Kasey Reaber's 8 points and 4 steals. But Latin drew within 41-31 at halftime, going 12 of 14 at the line in the second quarter.

Driscoll came out in a matchup zone to start the third quarter to protect two starters with three fouls, and scored the first six points. A Lindfors basket with 2:23 left in the quarter made it 55-37.

Taylor Reaber added 10 points and 11 rebounds, Allie DiVito 10 points and Gigi DiGrazia 9 for Driscoll. Brittney Cato led Latin (21-6) with 13 points.

"Offensively we were fine," Driscoll coach Steve McCuiston said, "but I thought we got that early lead and we thought we were going to reach in and get a bunch of easy baskets. We got out of rhythm defensively.

"Sloppy moving our feet defensively, but a win is a win this time of year."
