Apply for an Arts in Bartlett scholarship
Arts in Bartlett is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a 2009 graduating senior who plans to get a college degree in the arts, including but not limited to visual arts, music, dance, writing or performance.
April 1 is the deadline to return applications, which are available in the guidance offices at all U-46 high schools. All U-46 seniors are eligible, candidates do not have to be Bartlett residents. Private school students in the area are also eligible and can get an application at artsinbartlett.org; by e-mail at artsinbartlett@comcast.net or by calling (630) 372-4152.
Fremd Boosters to hold fundraiser
The Fremd High School Boosters Club will hold a "spring boutique" fundraiser to benefit sports and student organizations, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Martch 7, at the high school, 1000 S. Quentin Road in Palatine.
More than 100 crafters will show their jewelry, fashion accessories and other items. Four gift baskets will be raffled featuring prizes donated from local businesses, including the Chandelier Boutique, Kinch's Florist, Harrington Manor and Durty Nellie's.
Palatine Twp. gala to help senior services
The Palatine Township Senior Citizens Council will host its annual Caring Hearts Gala, "Journey to Oz," 6-11:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Cotillion Banquets, 360 S. Creekside Drive, Palatine. Garden Club offers local scholarships
The Garden Club of Inverness is accepting applications for scholarships. Students who live in the area served by District 211 and Barrington High School and who major in horticulture or environmental-related studies in college are invited to apply.
Applicants can be college freshmen to seniors and/or graduate students. Scholarships of $1,000 or more are awarded each year, determined by available funds. In 2007, the club awarded three scholarships of $2,500 each to area students.
