Time to clean house; start with assessor
In the Fence Post article on Feb. 6, Grant Township Assessor Walter Kubalanza states you should elect candidates that will make the tough choices and reduce your taxes. I do not know much about Grant Township but I do know quite a bit about Vernon Township. I know that Peter Hopkins will be running against Gary Raupp for the tax assessor's office. I know that since Raupp has been in this office my taxes have constantly gone up due to the assessed value of my house and property going up. This has been done even when the property values have gone down and it is very difficult to get a house sold.
Currently my house and property is assessed for over $100,000 more than I can sell it for due to Raupp and his staff. Peter Hopkins knows what the people in Vernon Township have been going through and will do what ever he can to help them get fair and true tax assessments. So if you want change you will know what to do.
Get rid of all the people who have held the office for years in the township and who have forgotten what it means to serve the people of the township, and vote for the new people running.
This house in Vernon Township needs to be cleaned out and needs to be replaced with people who actually care about the residents. Change is GOOD. Support the new candidates.
