Khabibulin injured in win at Atlanta; Hawks recall Niemi from Rockford
Blackhawks goalie Nikolai Khabibulin, who was spectacular in Wednesday night's 3-1 victory over Atlanta, suffered a lower-body injury in the game and is not expected to play Friday.
Khabibulin, 36, was able to finish Wednesday's game and recorded 36 saves, but his status is now day-to-day, according to team officials.
The Blackhawks have recalled goalie Antti Niemi from Rockford, who will likely be used as a backup to Cristobal Huet when the Hawks travel to St. Louis to play the Blues Friday.
Khabibulin, who is 17-5-5 on the season, missed six games in late November and early December with a lower-body injury.
