Put politics aside on stimulus plan
Former President Bush gave a tax refund to all of us last year, and the economy is in even worse shape now. Bush gave tax breaks to big corporations on the theory that the money will "trickle down." We now know that the big corporations greedily used their tax breaks on luxury jets, fancy resorts, and outrageous pay and bonuses for their executives. What we've been doing the past eight years has only made the economy top-heavy; it was bound to fall over.
It is only logical to assume that President Obama and his team have learned more about the economic problems and the pros and cons of possible solutions than I, other letter writers, columnists, and/or any news commentators could ever do. Additionally, Obama has earned his integrity chops by the way he handled the election, the cabinet he has garnered, etc.
Congress may need to debate and revise the stimulus plan to some extent, but I hope that, in the end, they are all able to put their politics aside and support it.
