Hear lay apostle Anne

The lay apostle Anne of Ireland will speak at 7 tonight at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2300 Main St., Batavia. The evening begins with the rosary at 6:30 p.m. Anne will discuss revelations of Christ and his plans for a worldwide renewal. Mass will be said by Rev. Darragh Connolly of Ireland. Girls lacrosse registration

The St. Charles Girls Co-Op High School lacrosse team will hold general registration for all players from 7 to 8:30 tonight in the lower level meeting room at the St. Charles Public Library, 1 S. Sixth Ave. The club fields junior varsity and varsity teams and is comprised of players from St. Charles East and North high schools. All experience levels are welcome. Clerk holiday closings

The Kane County Clerk's Division of Vital Records and Tax Extension will be closed today for Abraham Lincoln's birthday and Monday for President's Day.

'No' to strip club booze

Patrons of a West Chicago-area strip club will no longer be allowed to bring liquor inside with them. The DuPage County Board voted unanimously Tuesday to close a loophole that allowed patrons of Diamonds Gentleman's Club at North Avenue and Powis Road to bring alcohol into the facility where the sale of liquor is prohibited. The new law bans alcohol from any business that features fully nude dancers. No one from the club spoke against the law, which goes into effect in mid-March.

Stock kids' closets

Hoover-Wood Elementary School's children's clothing and toy resale is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the school, 1640 Wagner Road, Batavia. Clothing, toys, strollers, high chairs, video games and more will be sold. Visit hwspto.org.

Astronomy tickets on sale

Tickets are on sale through Sunday for the Illinois Math and Science Academy's "IMSA - A Shining Star" event from 6 to 9 p.m. March 5 at the Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum, 1300 S. Lake Shore Drive in Chicago. The event features IMSA alumnus Scott Gaudí, who led a team of 69 international astronomers in discovering a solar system similar to our own. Tickets are $250.
