Signup deadline for Bartlett Idol Feb. 14

Register by Saturday, Feb. 14 or you'll miss out on the Bartlett Idol singing competition being held at 7 p.m. Feb. 27. Competitors will sing against people in their own age division: 7 and under, 8-12, 13-19, 20-30, 31-50 and 51-over. This is a solo competition; no duets or groups will be taken. Vendors needed for VIP Club Show

The Schaumburg High School VIP Club invites vendors to participate in the Spring Fashion & Gift Show being held on March 7. Vendors are needed in a variety of media: jewelry; candles; handbags; accessories; fragrances; skin care as well as unique and whimsical gift ideas.

Two fashion shows will also be held during the event, featuring spring apparel and prom fashions sponsored by local retailers. Download applications at www.shs.d211.org.

"eBay Selling 101" will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday Feb. 16, at the Palatine Public Library, 700 N. North Court, Palatine. Barrington seniors can get tax help

Sponsored by the Barrington Area Council on Aging, trained AARP volunteers are assisting seniors with their taxes now through April 11, by appointment. Call BACOA at (847) 381-5030 to sign up.

Sessions are being scheduled from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays at the BACOA office in Prairieview Building at The Garlands of Barrington, 6000 Garlands Lane, Suite 100, Barrington. Sessions will also be held Saturdays from 8-11 a.m. at Barrington Bank & Trust, at 201 Hough St.

Norwegian League offers scholarships

The Norwegian National League of Chicago is offering scholarships to students of Norwegian heritage in Cook, Lake, DuPage, McHenry and Will counties. Students in fifth grade through high school must submit an original essay on a Norwegian topic. Students in first through fourth grade must submit an original drawing depicting a Norwegian topic.
