Oswego woman remains hospitalized after Sugar Grove crash

An 18-year-old Oswego woman remained hospitalized in fair condition late Tuesday after a head-on collision that injured her and two others early Monday morning in Sugar Grove.

According to police, Jacqueline Ann Gross was driving a 1998 Pontiac Grand Am north of Jericho Road on Route 47 when her car crossed the center line about 6:50 a.m. Her car struck a 2001 Honda Accord driven by Martin Biernat, 46, of Elk Grove Village. Biernat's car was hit from behind by a 1997 Toyota Highlander driven by Joshua J. Blomberg, 29, of Sugar Grove.

Both Biernat and Blomberg were treated and released Monday at Provena Mercy Medical Center in Aurora.

Sugar Grove Investigative Officer John Sizer said Gross is a student at Waubonsee Community College and was on her way to class at the Sugar Grove campus when the crash occurred.

The incident is still being investigated. Sizer said he has not been able to determine the cause of the accident. He said that the pavement was dry, and that there was no evidence of alcohol or drugs.
